supplies used include:
cardstock and adhesive: american crafts; pattern paper, rub-ons, flair, paper flower: american crafts - dear lizzy collection; stickers: american crafts - dear lizzy collection and jenni bowlin labels; mist and envelop: maya road

thanks always for stopping by and off to get some rest, haven't been feeling so great the last few days, I think I might be coming done with something.

on another note... was hoping to be able to go back home, but guess that won't be happening anytime soon... can't believe what it has come down to, but then again... am I surprised. No! however what surprises me is the person behind all this, I would have thought {} cared more about the country and its people.

its monday...

mondays are just not my days... and I'm still trying to get use to working again (oh how I miss those days of not having to do much of anything - uhmmm although it does sound pretty lazy of me)...

also thanks for all the comments, emails and questions that you've been dropping by... I promise to get back to everyone sometime this week. I know, I've been a bit bad in that area lately... it's just after having to swim through over 50 emails a day for work and the long conference calls... *sign*

but on the happy and fun front... I did this layout last night in less than 30mins!!! Another scrapping record for me... (I usually spend over an hour and sometimes even lots more)... this time around I used a sketch provided by Creative Scrappers (sketch #103), a challenge over at Scrapgal and of course for my Lily Bee assignment...

Photobucket

and I know... I've used this picture before, but lately I've been trying to use up all the pictures that I have printed (the pile is almost as high as all the thickers that I have)... I just don't know why I've printed so many of the same picture.

and also having some fun with the yummy chipboards from the "hello sunshine" collection... I sanded the sides to add a bit more texture and also used one of the stamps from stamping bella for the journaling spot.

Photobucket
supplies used are:
cardstock: american crafts, pattern paper: lily bee "hello sunshine" collection, chipboard: lily bee "hello sunshine" collection, rub-ons: lily bee "hello sunshine" collection, punch: martha stewart, stamp: stamping bella

and my american crafts project is up on the AC Blog. I just went crazy playing with the new rose sizzix die, but looks as though I still need to learn how to glue these flowers together... they've continue to bloom ever since. Also finally using the 7 gyspies printer tray I brought a while back... although, do wish that I got the white one now.

thanks again for stopping by and all the wonderful comments

and some more magpie club...

thanks so much for all the comments and sharing your scrapbooking journey, I really love reading your comments and its really interesting to hear how everyone got started... and also great to learn that I'm not the only one who tends to buy more than scrap... lol

also I just realized that I haven't share my magpie club layouts from this month kit yet (unfortunately the main kit is already sold out - just two days after going live, but the crunch kit is still available and boy does it have some super yummy goodies... more details here at magpie club)

... and here's a pick at all my scrapbook goodies that I've been hoarding... and to think, this is only a fraction...

Photobucket

and this is one is for my sister (younger sis) who has also recently completed all her exams for her master degree... a big big big CONGRATS... and definitely wish I was in the states now to help celebrate (and of course do a bit of shopping toooo)...

Photobucket

and last but not least... one for dear hubby... I just couldn't resist taking pictures of him and his new bag. I know it doesn't sound like much, but believe me... he hardly buys anything in the first place and since I have known him for 5 years now... this is the first bag (any type of bag) that I have ever seen him buy...

Photobucket

thanks again for stopping by and do check back tomorrow to see if you're the lucky one (ones); also don't forget to stop by yourscrapbookstash gallery for some more inspirations in the coming days...

it has been one year.... & Giveaway

yeap, it's been one year (yesterday) since I started this blog and sharing my journey into the scrapbooking world... and it's funny how all this got started...

always love arts and crafts
always love traveling and taking pictures
always love holding on to the memories

and then... relocated to singapore for work (around mid 2008) and discovered this cute store (made with love) selling all kinds of paper and crafty items and was taken away by all the gorgeous work that were on displayed in the store... also they were having a challenge where the grand prize was to guest design for them for 3 months. wow... that really sounds like fun and just had to give it a try... (and my very first post).

... and little did i know that one year later... I would be designing for them on a regular basis and also for these amazing manufacturers... american crafts, collage press and lily bee. also had the chance to teach a few scrapbook classes and got published (OMG)! thanks so much everyone for giving me these unbelievable opportunities...

and just a little something to capture this moment (using goodies from studio calico - feb kit)...

Photobucket

and here's my take on the sketch... using the Magpie Club May Main Kit (which is sold out, but the credit crunch kit is still available)

Photobucket

I used a really old photo in this one... I think that was taken about 5 years old when I was on an assignment in europe, visiting the black forest area in germany.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Thanks for the stopping by and hope you join in on the challenge. The winner will receive a credit crunch kit and/or guest designer spot. More details will be posted soon on Tara's Blog.

be yourself...

first off... thanks so much everyone for all your help yesterday! really surprise to see how many of you signed up... thank you thank you thank you!!! and lets keep our fingers cross.

and now for one lucky person... here's a little something from me (everything is new and unopened)...

Photobucket

and the random generator says ...

Photobucket

congrats ANN!!! please send me you address details.

Photobucket

and now... for some scrappy inspirations... although I'm not over the dear lizzy collection and also loving the vintage contrast against the bright and fun colors. Here's this month assignment from MWL - working with fabric, canvas and sewing/stitching. I'm still stitching here as I haven't figured out how to use the sewing machine yet, but at least it's out of the box and now sitting on my table, right?.

Photobucket

and don't you just love what you can do with a bit of fabric... also used the latest tim holtz sizzix die for the keyhole there with a bit of distress embossing powder...

Photobucket

one of the things I like most about working with fabric or canvas, is the little details... on the edges of the canvas I pulled out some strands and vola... you have that cute fray look... I also misted, painted and added some distress stickles to the canvas ...

Photobucket

and on the sides here... I actually cut rectangle pieces of the fabric (fabric paper from dear lizzy collection - removed the adhesive thou) and glued each piece behind the border strip. I know it's a lot of work, but really like the effect especially since it's fabric...

Photobucket
supplies used include:
cardstock: american crafts; pattern paper: american crafts (dear lizzy collection); canvas: prima, paint: making memories (white); mist: maya road (sunflower); stickles: distress stickles (vintage photo); fabric paper: american crafts; brads: american crafts; die: sizzix tim holtz; embossing powder: tim holtz distress powder (vintage photo); alphabet stickers: basic grey; pins: maya road; flowers: prima

as I was making this layout... I kept thinking back to some conversations that I had been having lately with various people about scrapbooking and what my style is. the funny thing is that I don't know what my style is... I just enjoy working with the papers and as each brand is different, I just adapt to the papers and the style of brand... does that kinda make sense? it's just funny sometimes when people saying ... why don't you scrap like what you used too... well to be honest, I don't know what I used to scrap like... I just know what I currently enjoy doing... and hope that some of it might be inspiring for you. :)

thanks again for stopping by and hoped everyone had a great weekend!!!

MWL Lift Me Challenge #5

Happy Scrapbook Day!!!

Just quick a note to let you know that I just posted the latest "Lift Me" Challenge on the MWL forum... (running till May 15th). This time around, the challenge is to include fabric (this can be fabric, fabric paper, canvas, fabric flowers... anything that has fabric) and some stitching or sewing. Also a small twist... is that you need to include at least one handmade flower... and I know everyone has been experimenting with these lately :) Stop by the MWL forum for more details on the challenge.

And here's my take on the challenge... and also experimenting with mixing papers. At the moment, I'm just loving the mix of the vintage browns against the bright colors of the dear lizzy collections (or any other colorful collections)... what do you think?

Photobucket

and here's a close up on my handmade flower using the dear lizzy fabric papers...

Photobucket

and still can't get enough of these doily rub-ons from hambly (yeap, super crazy about these that I recently bought 4 packs of them... lol)...

Photobucket

and just love the contrast between the alpha stickers and their negatives and also it's a great way to subsitute for missing letters...

Photobucket
supplies used include:
cardstock: american crafts; pattern paper: basic grey and american crafts; fabric paper: american crafts; stickers: basic grey; mist: maya road; punch: martha stewart; alpha stickers: studio calico; brad: american crafts; flowers: prima; rub-ons: hambly and american crafts; envelop: maya road.

and can't wait to see you take on the challenge, remember you have till May 15th to upload your layout to the gallery and there's a small RAK for one lucky person too. thanks for stopping by.
