Friday Nights

Hi everyone!!!

Sorry for disappearing but have been so busy with work... been at the office till about 8:30pm lately (which means i only get back around 9pm) and looks as thou it will be much later in the next few weeks. So much to do, so little time. I wonder why is it that we plan to do 15 hours of work in a 8 hour work period. Have no idea why we tend to set ourselves up to fail...

Anyhow... on to the fun stuff. I currently printing out my "sky high saving coupons" - you if haven't printed these yet... truly recommend, you definitely don't want to miss out on these. I'm getting really for a big shopping spree tomorrow (they always know how to make us go back for more and more - guess there goes my idea of saving this month); can't wait to get my hands on all the new goodies coming in!!!

dreaming away on all the scrapping goodies.... also will have some fun layouts to show off tomorrow - so please do check back again. as for now... nite nite!

Tough But Fun!!!

  • I have to admit that when i first saw the items in the kit - i was uhmmmm.... what do i do with these (paper bags) and then what are these (tim holtz grunge board). But after a few hours of starring at the items.... eureka!!! mini album + layout. If you have noticed, i love love love layouts and it's pretty much because i can put them away in my vast collection of making memories albums for easy viewing... and also less storage place is required (all my spacing has already been taken over with my scrapping supplies - how could i resist all the good deals out there).
  • So here's my attempt at a combo!!! the biggest challenge for me on this project was to make sure that everything goes together, as the pages are flipped down; please do stop by @ MWL if you have a chance - to flip through the pages...

So happy i found those 7 gypsies arrow book turners - that really holds all the pages up.

I wanted to those prima flowers to have a more vintage look - so i first sprayed it with glimmer mist (khaki) and then inked the sides with distress ink (brushed corduroy).

Wasn't quite sure what to do with the tim holtz grunge board - but the texture on these chipboards are unbelievable!! and also the sturdiness, they definitely don't tear easily. I had first die cut these with my quickutz die through the sizzix machine (just the love the versatility of this machine) and then cut around the outline made by the die (the die was too shallow to cut through the chipboard but gave the perfect impression that i needed).

A total of three 7 gypsies paper bags were use and each have their own tags, that are filled with pictures or to be later journaled (oops... ran out of time for all the journaling that I had initially planned).

Once again - i just can't get enough of this tim holtz stamp - dreams dreams dreams...

If you do give this a try - don't forget to check on direction your pictures, as I almost pasted the bottom picture upside down - since the pages open downwards.

Thanks again for looking!!! If interested - the layout is @ MWL

What Inspires Us

WOW... i was rushing to finish my layout for the MWL DT assignment today, and honestly wouldn't say that it was a 100% done either. For some reason, my mind has been blank for the last few days - no inspirations nor motivation. This is pretty much the first LO that i have completed this week. Its strange that some days, i just can't stop and on other days, i can't start... scrapping that is. Hopefully this week i'll get back into my scrapping mood... as there is quite a lot of things to do :)

Before heading off to sleep... here's a peak at what i have been up to and my assignment kit (and yes, those are paper bags):

Nite Nite & please check back tomorrow and also @ MWL for the full details... had a lot of fun using those paper bags from 7 gypies.

My First Mini Album

Yes this is my first mini album that i have made all by myself... my own mini album... the first time using chipboard was in Aida's class @ MWL about 6-7 months ago... yeap, didn't know much about scrapbooking then... didn't know how even to use chipboard, let alone an album.... yes, that was me about 9 months ago... when i first got relocated to singapore for an assignment. and now, got my first to show and special thanks to lily bee design challenge for this motivation and inspiration!

So.... would recommend that you get a glass/cup of your favorite drink as this post will be long... much longer than any that i have posted yet (given that there's only 13 before this)... i'm even writing this with a glass of wine in hand!

Just be me... funny how i started out tracing the shape to cut for the album and as i was getting ready to paste the first page, i couldn't bring myself to hide away the adorable pattern - using lily bee: three little bird collection - so the pages are not glued onto the chipboard pages as usually done... instead utilized both sides or used my quickly expanding stash of hambly overlays...

Well did end up using a bit of the maya road chipboard album - it was more to ensure the sturdiness of the pages...
For these two pages, below, added more journal cards that can be tucked behind the pictures - as i have tons to things to write about the scrapper in me. The tim holtz clear stamp was used for the quote on the left page and my quickutz dies came just in time for the birdie. On the right page - i used "life" and "details" stamp from unity and embossed the cardstock paper to give it a contrasting effect... or so i though... :)
Funny how we all get inspired from different things... for me, it the calmness and peacefulness of the ambiance - like that in the picture below... (taken in spain - alhambra)

and yes... that's what i have done thus far and hopefully there will be more to add to the list... :)
thanks again for stopping by & nite nite...
supplies used include:
pattern paper: all from lily bee - three little birds
cardstock: bazzill paper
embellishments: maya road chipboard album, birds, tree, frames and alphas; american craft ribbon; hambly overlays; magic mesh; robin nest dew drops

Flowers In Bloom

If there's one thing i miss most about being in belgium... it would be all the flowers during spring time. The entire country would be blooming... i will never forget the most amazing sight across from the royal gardens... where all these magnolia trees were (and there were more than 20!)... i had never seen these flowers before (at least not the real stuff) and also the size! **speechless**
If you are ever in brussels during spring... this is a must visit!!! (it's a park area right opposite of the royal gardens)...
Supplies used include:
  • pattern paper - making memories flower patch collection (includes matching flower stickers)
  • embellishments - primas (a must), robin nest dew drops, maya road chipboard butterfly, american craft alphabets and american craft metallic green embossing powder
And here... finally finished is a layout that i started earlier in the week. This one is for the Graphic 45 May Challenge (there's still time if you are interested!). I have been hoarding their papers for the longest time ever... they're just too gorgeous to use... ahhhhhhhh.... and i just love how this page turned out... it's my story, it's my moment, it's me...

Supplies used include:

  • pattern paper: graphic 45
  • embellishments: prima flowers, maya road ribbon, american craft alphas

and last but not least.... leaving you guys with a sneak peak on what i am currently working on... it's a mini album using lily bee design papers... my favorite!! thanks again for stopping by...

And More...

Here are two more layouts that i manage to scrap and finish... the first is inspired by anne-marie challenge for MWL... tulips and tulips and tulips, i have never seen so many and in so many colors and variations... these were taken at the keukenhof in the netherlands.

and here's the second installment of the celine navarro's class... total of 3 layouts were created (well actually started) and here's the second one that i finally finished.... hehheeee... one of my most memorable moments... visiting chateau mouton rothschild and being able to do one of their best vintage tasting... don't think i would be able to afford a bottle - i still remembered that their 2000 vintage was over 800 euros....

and in my usual blog hopping... i was just taken away by the posting on the american craft blog today... a must share... for those who love simplicity and beauty... this is a must see!

also want to say a big thanks to everyone for visiting and leaving love notes behind... hope these are an inspiration... thanks!!!

Finally Finished

Finally had the chance to complete the layout... the title and abit of journal ling... this one is for the inspired blueprint challenges... their sketches are so inspiring. Here's the sketch that i chose:

For this LO - I decided to once again explore outside of my safety zone... bright colors!!! Noticed that the lime green background might be abit familiar, well it was the wrapping paper that i received along with my glimmer mist... crave the brightness of the color (and plus it's GREEN).

Supplies used include:
- heidi grace "sweet bug" paper and embellishment collection
- american crafts alphabets
- maya road sheers (clock)
- prima flowers & dew drops
- heidi swapp verb stickers

Here's another one that i finally completed from Celine Navarro's class @ MWL. I was very lucky to manage to attend one of her classes here... and have the opportunity to meet her. Love her personality, Love her techniques, Love her style!!! Thanks so much Celine!!!!

Check out the tape technique on this one... love the glimmer mist effect... love everything!!!
