sharing a bit of MME...

just wanted to share that some of my projects are up on the MME blog as their guest designer this month (more details here)... and don't quite know how to describe just how I'm feeling at the moment. its somewhere between... thrilled, super excited, beyond belief and totally freaked out at the same time! I know the later is a bit a strange, but honestly... was (and am still) so nervous about my projects. are they too simple, should I have added more details, oooh was that the right color, maybe I should have used that other pattern paper, uhmm does it look right?... and the list just goes on. lol

Photobucket

and I totally agree with the saying on that chipboard accent from the Fine & Dandy collection... yes... you should dream everyday of your life!!! and here's my winter theme layout for the sketch challenge... (also using the fine and dandy collection and once again... love love love especially that yellow!)

Photobucket

I kept this layout simple (and sweet) - playing on the sunny colors and patterns of the paper as the key focus. for the added details, there's a bit of bling and also the tone on tone pop ups.

Photobucket

and with the alpha stickers, I used the distress ink (mustard seed) to add some yellow color to some of the alphas; to highlight one of the key words.

Photobucket

and don't forget to check out the MME blog for more samples from their amazing designers and hopefully we've inspired you to grab your stash of MME!! thanks for stopping by and if you haven't left a comment yet for my giveaway (here), there's still sometime - till this Friday Also MME is giving away one of my favorite collection to one of their lucky blog readers... head on over here to leave your comment if you're interested!

and a big thanks to all the amazing 2peas, you guys truly do know how to make my day!

starting the year with...

hi everyone, a big thanks for all the comments and especially for sharing your new year activities with me (please don't forget to enter you email address in the details section when you leave your comments, so I could also be able to reply back to you guys.)

and my first layout to share with everyone this year, is a little something I created for the MWL assignment - using mist and stickles. I opted to use my all time favorite picture and one of my top 10 favorite collection from 2010 for this one... isn't it the sweetness!

Photobucket

and some of the details are: using these super fun wooden frames from studio calico (really do wish I bought more of these) and trying out one of my new punch (I think its call the cheese punch from EK Success). I really love these frames and they really do help accent the pattern papers/pictures - also its a great way to introduct not really matching papers...

Photobucket

also here I used a postage stencil from tattered angles to create the negative image as I used my mister huey's (lunch tray and classic calico) to spray around it. I then added a touch of distress stickles around the image to highlight the details abit. and if you haven't already fallen heads over heels in love with these pattern papers from Pink Paislee... you honestly don't know the fun that you are missing out on...

Photobucket

and a big thanks 2peas for featuring my layout... super excited OMG!! (Jan 8th)
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

and if you haven't heard me scream across the country yet - well I'm screaming at the top of my lungs... THANK YOU MME for this amazing opportunity to guest design for you guys this month!!! (see the full details here).

Thanks again guys for stopping by and nite nite everyone.

Happy New Year 2011 & Giveaway

A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011 everyone!!!
I still can't believe that another year has gone by... and honestly I still thought that I had some more time before the year came to an end. The other day I was having lunch with some scrappy friends and was mentioning how next week for new years, hubby and I were planning to grab some dinner and watch the fireworks. The catch was... that lunch was this past Thursday and new years was on Friday... oops. Needless to say, I kinda lost track to time.

Photobucket
fireworks at marina bay (not the greatest picture, but still working on my photo taking skills)

And looking back this past year...

  • visited 7 cities/countries (australia, bali, barcelona, belgium, hanoi, london and malacca); not counting Bangkok
  • took a 3 month break from work
  • had a chance to work with another client/project for a short period of time
  • taught my first scrapbooking class (both locally and internationally)
  • had the opportunity to guest design / featured with 10 sponsors
  • amazing opportunity to work with 3 new design teams (lily bee, creating keepsake and pink paislee) - beyond my dreams
  • and bought 8 new bags (something that I really need to cut down for the next year)

And for the coming year, well not really sure just yet... but looking forward to

  • enjoying my work (somehow)
  • reaching a happy weight
  • visiting another 7 countries
  • visiting sis in chicago (and attending CHA W 2011 in LA along the way)
  • and...

And while I continue to work out my resolutions for the new year, I thought it would be great to start off the year with a giveaway!! The piles of goodies shown below will be split evenly between TWO lucky scrappers!! If you are interested, please do leave a comment on this post by midnight Friday Jan 7th and would love to hear how you're new year celebration was.

a very merry (late) christmas...

I seem to be losing track of time these days and also for some reason, I thought that I would have internet access on aboard a boat. Really not sure what I was thinking that day (and still wonder). For this christmas, we decided to celebrate in Hanoi, Vietnam - with the highlight being the over night boat trip in Halong Bay. An absolutely amazing sight, with the thousands of islands everywhere...

Photobucket

And will definitely be sharing tons more of pictures over the next few days about the trip, more amazing shots from Halong Bay and the buzzing city of Hanoi. But for now, a late but very Merry Merry Christmas to everyone!!! And sharing a few cards that I created for some wonderful folks... I hope they like them.

Guest Designing for Magistical Memories

This month I have the honor of guest designing for magistical memories and the opportunity to work with their yummy chipboard goodies. For this layout, I had used the larger cirlce from their nesting circle set to create a focal point on the layout (other goodies used are from Studio Calico Nov main kit).

Photobucket

I first started with painting the chipboard with gesso/white paint and then applied using baby wipes abit of distress ink randomly along the piece. I really love how the moisture from the baby wipes dilluted the ink abit, creating a more distress look and was also easlier to blend into the paint. And finally added abit of stamping here and there (also using the stamp from my studio calico kit - I think this one was from one of their add-on kits and has now become a new fav of mine!)

Photobucket

I still have a few more projects to share using their chipboards, but for now... wishing everyone a very merry christmas and a happy new year!!

at times...

hi everyone, a quick post to share a simple and fun layout that I create a little while back; to capture a moment that hubby and I had. You know those time when you say something and he just goes off on another... Yeap - those moments. (my version of he said ... she said ... where what she said is always right!)

Photobucket

The key focus for this layout is on the flower and the envelope, where I have also included some of the details of the conversation (sorry guys - a bit personal on this one). As for the flower - I first misted it with a pinkish glimmer mist to added a bit of glimmer and then embellished with various brads before poking the leaf pins for the final touches.

Photobucket
supplies used include:
cardstock: american crafts; pattern paper: my minds eye; envelope: maya road; leaf pins: maya road; brads: american crafts; chipboard alphas: american crafts; chipboard button: lily bee design; sticker flower: sassafras; gold transparency: hambly; sticker alphas: october afternoon; other: twine, ribbon, doily and fabric flower

Pencil Line Sketch

finally I have some more inspirations to share!!! I've been waiting for the opportunity to share this layout, that I created for Pencil Line as their guest designer this week and finally having the chance to use one of my favorite collection from this CHA Summer - Sweetness Collection from Pink Paislee.

I just adore this collection and had to get two of everything!!! {also tripled up on some items too.... I know, I've just gone gaa ga guu gu!!!} wouldn't you?

For this layout - I used a sketch provided by Pencil Line - Sketch 216 - to create a little something to capture one of the sweetest and funniest moments. I just love how my mother just managed to capture the moment and that expression... and the funny part... well this picture was one out of about 100 pictures that my mother took in that spot {you should have seen the line of people waiting there to take their pictures...lol...oops!}

Photobucket

and here's my take on the sketch...

Photobucket

aren't the papers just divine? and now addicted to these butterflies created using the making memories slice machine {I can't believe the wonders that this little machine does - i love you making memories!!!}.

Photobucket
