missing those weekend trips...

hi there...

was just doing some re-arranging of files and came across this layout that I created for publication in Creating Keepsake earlier this year and couldn't help sharing it here also. it's been so long since hubby and I hoped on a plane for a weekend trip (wonder if I might be due to the fact that I was pregnant and also had a few business trips this past year). either way, I'm so looking forward to more weekends trips (well might have to extend for a few days now since we'll have little Sophia joining us).

created this page about my two favorite things ... travel and food. I always love trying new things (although can't say that I love everything that I try, but at least I try right?) and part of the assignment was to include some memorabilia from the trip and what better than the tickets stubs or luggage tags... it has all the details you need to remember when, what, where and how. as for why, well isn't it obvious... food!

this also happens to be one of my favorite layout from this year... I was really surprised at how everything all came together... the contrast between black and white (background) and the variation of shapes (speech bubbles and circles). this is definitely a layout design that I'll be doing over and over again...

thanks for stopping by everyone and hope you guys had a fun weekend (I know I did, but not sure if that would be the same feeling once the credit card bill comes... may have shopped a little bit too much this black friday and to think, I'm not even in the states. can't imagine how bad it would be if I was.  hhehheeee what else is a girl suppose to do... shop and scrap, right?)

Some Crate Paper Fourteen Love

Hi Everyone!

Got a few more projects to share that were recently posted on the Crate Paper blog... using the gorgeous and super sweet Fourteen collection.  The first one here is a little something I created using an old frame that I found at the market. It didn't come with a backing but used one of the pattern papers and good old washi tape (that way, I can change it without damaging the paint work).

I just adore the mix of colors in this collection and honestly it would be perfect for anything (not only valentine projects)...

Some details on the layering and it looks amazing on the wall over my couch...

Also sharing a few valentine cards that were also created using the Fourteen collection... along with some doilies and of course some with the help of the cameo...

I'm super excited to be part of the Crate Paper family again this year and will be joining the project life team along with 3 other amazing ladies. Hope you guys come and visit us every Friday for a little PL inspiration.

And sharing my PL for week 1 & 2 here.. (don't forget to also stop by my post on the Crate Paper blog HERE for more details and close ups)

For the cover - I kept things simple and used a hambly print to highlight 2013 along with the super cute wood cut from freckled fawn. Definitely Hello 2013!

 photo CPPL2013-Cover1-002_zps3f2672fc.jpg

Also put together my first set of cards using photoshop (finally learning how to use it and having tons of fun loading various free fonts from the web). For the grid cards, I purchased a digital kit from Three Paper Peonies HERE (Everyday Collection) and added my own text and/or various brushes that I found or purchased.

And used the sweet Fourteen Collection from Crate Paper on a few of the cards. Just love the combination or colors and adding in a bit of gold here and there... just I'm in a "gold" crazy phase!

Week 1:
  • Celebrating New Year!
  • Creating/Putting together my own PL cards (slowly giving digital scrapbook a try)
  • Discovered caramel lava cake (there's no turning back now)
  • Brushing up on my cooking skills; don't think I cooked at all last year
  • Checking out MAAD

One of things that I'm planning to do for each week is have a status check on where I am on my resolutions - got to loose those kgs and also need to control my scrapbook spending (last year was really out of hand and ended up buying a lot of things that I didn't use).  By the way, if anyone (in Singapore) is interested in my grab bags again, please drop me an email as putting some together at the moment.

And for week 2, I used the same set of papers along with some glitter paper from american crafts (been hoarding these for a long while now and love how it looks on the spread); glitter and gold :)

Week 2:
  • Stocking up on sequins in Chinatown (@ Golden Dragon Store)
  • Yummy stamps that I bought from SSS finally arrived (love these)
  • Got to meet Helen and her family and also having some chilli crab
  • Finally decided on which typewriters to keep and rehome (shocked at how many I have)
  • Having some "Me" time, honestly don't remember when was the last time I got my nails done here

Hello 2013

Hi Everyone!

Finally an update  I know it's been a while since I posted here and have tons to projects to share along with some exciting news (one being Webster's Pages Announcement HERE).

With the new year starting, I can't help look back at last year. Boy was it one crazy year for me with all the traveling that I  had to do. I think I was pretty much traveling every single month if not week since January till December. It's funny how at one point in time, I didn't mind traveling for work and was super excited to be able to fly here and there, jumping from meetings in one country to another. But times have definitely changed and sadly traveling becomes exhausting at times (guess if you have to fly every week for 8 continuous months, it eventually gets to you although I applause those who can do it for 2 years).

As much as 2012 was a crazy year for me, it was also the year that I finally decided to take matters into my own hands. There's no point complaining about things if you're not going to do anything about it, right. Also there eventually comes a time when the sacrifices that we make out weights the benefits. Therefore...  decided that it's time for a career change (or at least a change in work place). Although I haven't figured out what I want to do or where to work, at least I know what I don't want.  So here's to 2013, the year of uncertainty but happiness!

Photobucket

And my one little word for this year is... STRENGTH
Have strength to make those tough decisions, have strength to search for what you love, have strength to do what you want and not what others want of you...

Photobucket

And using some Crate Paper goodies here, mixing products from On Trend, Acorn Avenue and Sleigh Ride collections. Also using my silhouette and design file from Loni Stevens for the title - yes, I do believe that everything happens for a GOOD reason.

Photobucket

So have you guys all selected your one little word for this year? Would love to hear about it and especially if you are planning to do any projects about it through out the year...

Thanks again everyone for stopping by and will be back to share some past projects that I have created in the past few month and also my start on Project Life.

Crate Paper - Pattern Paper Challenge

Just wanted to share that my project for Crate Paper - Pattern Paper Challenge is up on the Crate Paper Blog today. Created using a mix of pattern papers and embellishments from the Storyteller and Pretty Party collections; and putting my silhouette to good use again (seriously find it harder and harder to not use it and absolutely love this design that Loni Stevens has created). LOL

Photobucket

One of the thing that I love most about Crate Paper collections are their amazing assortment of embellishments and the fun designs; especially their chipboard embellishments (always finding myself buying more)...

Photobucket

And needless to say... that I've been bitten by the chevron bug... LOL this design is a definite must have and having a ball layering away... also finally using up some of those scrap pieces of papers that I can never let go.

Photobucket

Lastly, loving these words that I cut using the silhouette machine... and what easier way to adhere to the layout --> staples!

Photobucket

Thanks again everyone for stopping by and hope you join in on the challenge (more details HERE and open until Sunday Aug 26th, 8:00pm CST).

Playing Catch Up with Crate Paper

I just realized that I haven't shared this Crate Paper assignment here on my blog yet - using Crate Paper Random collection (love love this) - for some daily inspiration.

Photobucket

Using my silhouette also, I created this Days of the Week index card set to help me capture my daily activities.  The idea is to jolt down moments of the day on post its and record them on these cards until I use them in my projects (yes, I a major forgetful person).

Photobucket

And some close up of the cards with "open" space for the post-its.....

Photobucket

And my Wednesday card...

Photobucket

And the ones for Thursday and Friday...

Photobucket

And there you have it, a little something to help me keep track of my daily adventures...

Thanks everyone for stopping by!
