Crate Paper Color Challenge *updated*

Hi everyone, looks as thou I must have been day dreaming when I first created this post and had scheduled the post instead of saving it as a draft... oops. but a big big thanks for all the sweet comments and this is by far one of my favorites....

I created this layout for the current crate paper color challenge (more details on the challenge and the amazing sample by Tara here). Not only do I love the colors that Tara selected, but was totally inspired by her in mini album and created this layout with a focus on space.

Photobucket

and also got out my silhouette for some added details... loving this script!

Photobucket

When I created this layout, I really wanted a lot of white space but at the same time I still wanted to utilize all the areas of the page. Therefore I selected two areas on opposite ends where then I started working on... adding bits and boobs (in order to keep my work area small and thus the effect of the white space - or so I hope)...

Photobucket

and also adding some scraps here and there (negative punch out of the butterfly)...

Photobucket

A big big thanks everyone for stopping by and hoping your week is off to a great start!!

having fun with challenges...

boy has it been one busy weekend! started my first of series of exercise class on friday evening (yes, finally getting my butt in gear and signed up for a bunch of exercise class - hoping that these will help me get back into shape and also lose {alot} of weigh along the way!)... and then there was the mini album class on saturday and then spent the sunday cleaning up and finishing off some projects.

which then brings me to this layout that I had wanted to share earlier in the week... I had created this for the Stamping Challenge that I'm hosting over at MWL till June 26th and created based on the color challenge provided by Crate Paper (which I missed the cut off date...lol).

Photobucket

using again one of the pictures that we took while Tanya was here visiting Singapore with her family. In this one, the three of us (Pearl, Tanya and me) had met up for some lunch nearby my office then.

Photobucket

and once again...using up my ever growing stash of these gorgeous prima blooms. I just can't seem to stop by them (maybe its the 50% discount that's driving me crazy... lol). also have you seen that sunburst stamp from jenni bowlin? I'm in love!

Photobucket

and that challenge that I'm host at MWL this month is super simple... all you have to do is to include stamping somewhere... anywhere... on your layout; for more details --> click here. remember that you have until midnight June 26th to upload your layout onto the MWL Challenge Gallery to be eligible to win a $20 voucher!! (winner will be randomly selected and challenge is only open to those in singapore)

Photobucket

thanks again for stopping by everyone and hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!!

banners banners and more banners....

ok - I'll admit, I have a little something for banners (for a while now...lol) and this time around I went full out banner style. I created this layout for the Crate Paper Color Challenge earlier this month and was inspired by the inspiration photo that they had provided (here)...

Photobucket

as part of the design, I wanted some the elements to be able to move freely as if there were hung from the clothes line (as in the inspiration photo) and therefore used those cute pins from tim holtz to hold everything together and also added the crystal there for some added fun...

Photobucket

some additional details and finally catching up with the doily trend...

Photobucket

also its my first time ever using the SRM stickers (and is now my new found love - just love how you apply invisibly onto the papers and therefore looks as those the print was done directly on the pattern papers themselves (used: follow your heart sticker from the sweet collection). also I want to say THANK YOU Tanya for sending some over my way to play with (isn't she the sweetness - she sent me some SRM stickers as my B-Day prez!)

Photobucket
supplies used include:
cardstock: american crafts; pattern paper and stickers: crate paper - portrait collection; flower: prima; pin: tim holtz; button backing: my minds eye; crystal: maya road; twine: the twinery; butterfly punch: fiskars; flower punch: ek success; button: jenni bowlin; sticker: SRM sticker

all in all... close your eyes and follow your heart to whereever it may bring you...

thanks for stopping by everyone and how fast time has flown by... may is just around the corner already....

rediscovered....

hi there everyone, just a quick post to share this layout that I found while I was reorganizing and clean up things (yes, my desk looks a little bit better now or atleast I've moved off floor and have started scrapping again on my desk... lol); i found is cute layout tucked away in the corner that I created awhile back using sassafras paper crush collection and with an old picture of us...

Photobucket

just loving white space at the moment and keeping things simple... and letting the papers themselves shine. I just love that gorgeous pattern paper - aren't the colors amazing!!!

Photobucket

and these alphas... yes, I'm a collector!!! they so verstile and the colors and designs... perfect! and some additional details... no matter how simple the layout is, I can't help adding some small details to make it more fun....

its the 2 of us...

thought I would share this layout I created a while back for the Crate Paper March Sketch challenge. having more fun with the portrait collection - just love the various colors in this collection and how you can pretty much use then for any theme.

Photobucket

one of the biggest highlight in visiting the states ealier this year, was finally being able to catch up with sis (that is of course, in addition to attending CHA - still can't believe that I had the opportunity to go and meet all the amazing people). and what a time did I pick to go to chicago - right in the middle of the snow storm (lucky I caught the last flight out of LA other would have had to stay in LA for a new more days). but I guess on the bright side... finally got to play in snow again (its been a super long long long time since I've seen snow - ever since the old Ann Arbor days).

thanks for stopping by everyone and all the sweet comments. hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!!

another year...

can't believe how fast the month has flown by... we're already at the end of march and (ekkk) I'm another year older (yes, I haven't quite gotten over that one just yet). but honestly, I can't get over how times flies by, it just seems to disappear - one moment you're hanging out with buddies in high school, going crazy at all the parties in university (and yeap, having attended UM - I still can't get over the annual **** run) and somewhere along the timeline, I started working and got married! (ooops - having some reality issues at the moment). lol

but back to the scrappy front... have you heard about the sketch challenge happening at Lily Bee (details here) - isn't the sketch just amazing!!!! and the best part of it all, is that the winner will get the entire collection of Picket Fence including the alphabet stickers!! hope you guys have a chance to play along - you only need to use atleast one lily bee product (and it doesn't have to be from the latest collection). The challenge is open till Tuesday April 5th.

and on another note - both the Lily Bee and Pink Paislee Collections have arrived here in Singapore!! Have you seen all the amazing goodies?? I honestly recommend the ALL the Lily Bee and the Pink Paislee collections - my faves are Butterfly Garden, Daily Junque, Soiree and Hometown!!!

and here's alittle something I recently created to capture this special month -{cheers to another year} using the latest collections from Sassafras (and also mixing in some of their older collections).

Photobucket

One more...

Just a quick post before heading out to explore the city...

I did this layout for the monthly assignment for Made With Love and also the 7 Gypsies Challenge (using the gorgeous 7 Gypsies stamps that I won from the lovely ladies there - thanks so much, love them all).

Photobucket

Photobucket
supplies used include:
cardstock: american crafts, pattern papers: 7 gypsies, stamp: 7 gypsies, vintage ephemera: 7 gypsies, ink: tim holtz (brushed corduroy & frayed burlap), mist: tattered angels (iridescent gold) and maya road (brown), embossing powder: american crafts (clear), flowers: prima, pins: maya road, buttons, alphas: american crafts and twine: shabby green door

Techniques used for the cards:
  • Cut rectangluar pieces of white cardstock with dimensions of 2.5" x 3.5"; total of 6 pieces were used.
  • Then select your favorite stamps (which just happens to be all of them); I inked the stamp with versa mark and sprinkle clear embossing powder from American Crafts to create the images.
  • After applying the embossing powder, I used the heat gun to seal the images and then with baby wipes applied the distressed inks over the images. I used Tim Holtz distress ink - Brushed Corduroy & Frayed Burlap colors.
  • Then after allowing the ink to dry abit, I sprayed Tattered Angels Iridescent gold mist over the cards to give it that shimmer metalic look.
thanks for stopping everyone... and now, off to do some sight seeing. so excited as this is my first visit to australia!

Friends...

Hoped everyone had a sweet valentine and a super great weekend! As for me, I don't know where my days went, the next thing I know it was already dinner time today.

And also luckily I got my scrappy mood back and finally finished this layout that I started a few days back for the MME Sketch Challenge... and a little something for my friend... (hope you like this & I should be back in BKK around april for drinks again ja).

Photobucket

I first started out with the pink and red theme (as per the challenge) and then somewhere along the way... yellow started coming in and then the greens and bits of brown. I hope this still fits the challenge criteria - I really started with the pinks and reds.

Photobucket

Finally got my sizzix machine out... but first dusted the dust that has been collecting there for a long while now... and finally put it to some good use. Just love how these flowers turned out.. you will definitely be seeing more of these!

Photobucket

And don't you also love that stamp - another one from stamping bella - and it says it all.

Photobucket
supplies used include:
cardstock: bazzill basic (kraft) and american crafts (green); pattern paper: my mind's eye - beloved collection; chipboard letters: american crafts; stamp: stamping bella; ribbon: maya road; punch: martha stewart; others: baker's twine, buttons, thread, yellow felt
inspired for: My Mind's Eye Challenge #8 (sketch)

Thanks again for stopping by & nite nite everyone.
